OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB: Performs a wide range of administrative tasks and acts as a point of contact for constituents, judges, magistrates, law enforcement officers and attorneys.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Associates degree in business management preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years’ work experience in legal background; experience in County government preferred. Or, any acceptable combinator of equivalent training and/or education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
1. Produces a statistical analysis of cases entered into the civil case management system to provide the Carbon County Law Journal for publication.

2. Generates a report and maintains all monies deposited in the Registry Accounts and issues monthly disbursements from the account.

3. Coordinates all purchases, vouchers, requisitions and budget transfers for the office.

4. Responsible for overseeing, calculating, and executing daily financials, including balancing the daily till.

5. Acts as a notary for the courts by notarizing, certifying and signing legal documents.

6. Acts as the First Deputy Prothonotary in the absence of the First Deputy Prothonotary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Must be able to speak and understand the English language and to follow oral and written instructions. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

2. Must possess initiative and problem-solving skills.

3. Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers and others.

4. Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.

5. Must possess the technical knowledge of operating computers, computer software, programs, scanners, copiers, printers and other office equipment

6. Must possess knowledge of office practices and procedures.

7. Must possess the ability to perform math calculations and tabulations accurately and with reasonable speed.

8. Must possess ability to pay attention to details, accuracy and concentrate on work.

9. Must be able to handle high volume and variety of work to be able to switch from one duty to another.

10. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

11. Must possess the knowledge of pertinent legal terminology and ability to follow complex legal instructions.

12. Must possess the knowledge and ability to plan, develop and implement clerical procedures and to assign work duties.

13. Must possess the ability to maintain and prepare reports.

14. Must be able to complete an annual test to be a certified acceptance agent for the US Department of State as a passport agent.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Works indoors in adequate work space, lighting, temperatures and ventilation.

3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of reaching, standing, walking, bending, twisting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and stooping as necessary to carry out job duties.

2. Requires coordinated dexterity requirements that range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands, feet/legs, and torso necessary to carry out job duties.

3. Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of thirty-five pounds.

4. Must demonstrate emotional stability.

5. Must be able to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position.

6. Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.
