Grading Foreman

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Grading Forman to join our construction team. The Forman will operate heavy machinery for construction, demolition, and excavation projects. We are looking for someone that has a minimum of 2 years of experience operating an excavator and skid steer and can also lead a 2-3 person crew in residential excavation and grading.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Must be able to operate excavator and skid steer.
- Prepare residential sites for construction.
- Must be able to install construction entrances and install silt fence according to construction plat.
- Must have experience backfilling foundations and installing drain tile.
- Must be able to rough grade, cut in driveways, prepare for concrete, and grade for proper drainage before irrigation is installed.
- Must be able to fine grade, operate Harley rake, four in one bucket, prepare for seed/straw and sod.
- Must be able to use a laser level to shoot grades.
- Must be able to lead a crew of 2-3 guys.
- Inspects and fuels vehicles prior to beginning shift.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and performing regular safety checks on equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience operating excavator and skid steer.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience backfilling, rough grading, and fine grading residential lots.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow orders/instruction.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- A sound understanding of health and safety codes.
- Sharp decision-making skills
- Ability to work extended hours, as required.
- Mechanical skills.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- On-the-job training offered.
- Valid drivers license.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at a time.
