**Duties**:
The major duties of the position are:

- Schedules and participates in entrance conferences and walkthrough meetings. Coordinates external auditor request for documentation and interviews with Agency Offices. Obtains and analyzes documentation from Agency Offices to ensure audit requests are fulfilled prior to distributing to the external auditors. Works with Offices to provide requested items in a timely manner.
- Tracks and reports on the status of external audit recommendations.
- Provides technical guidance to the Agency Office officials and their staff who are involved with audits on all aspects of audit execution to ensure timely and effective execution of audits and to establish positive working relationships with external auditors.
- Keeps abreast of developments in laws, regulations, and procedures related to functional responsibilities.
- Provides advice to Agency Offices on the audit responses.
- Provides advice to Agency Offices on corrective action plans and the submission of sufficient evidence to support implementation.
- Reviews audit recommendation closure packages to determine if the actions taken by Agency Offices have resolved the audit finding.
- Coordinates with Office Audit Liaisons and the external auditors on addressing significant delays.
- Works with Agency Offices to Address deficiencies identified from rejected closure packages.
- Coordinates the logistics and completion of external audit by DOL and other external auditors.
- Coordinates the Agency's response to audit reports and provides a final draft product for Agency Office's and senior management review.

**Qualifications**:

- To qualify for this position applicants must meet the Basic Requirement
- **Basic Experience**:

- **Degree**:auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.

**OR**
- **Combination of education and experience**: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

- A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.

In addition to the basic qualification requirement above:
**Specialized Experience**:Applicants must have at least one year of full-time specialized work experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level, GS-9, in the federal government. **Specialized experience is defined as**: Assisting with collecting, analyzing, and summarizing audit data; Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, or approved procedures to support or provide findings; and Assisting with writing or reviewing audit reports or evaluations.
- This experience need not have been in the federal government.
- There is a Quality Ranking Factor associated with this announcement.
- A quality ranking factor (QRF) is a knowledge, skill, or ability (KSA) that could be expected to enhance performance in a position but is not essential for satisfactory performance and focus on the level of proficiency the applicant brings to the position. QRFs could be expected to result in superior performance on the job. Applicants who possess this QRF may be ranked above those who do not, but no applicant will be rated ineligible for failure to possess a QRF.
- The QRF for this position is the possession of one of the following certifications:

- 1. Certified Information Systems Auditor
- 2. Certified Public Accountant
- 3. Certified Internal Auditor- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
