The Director of Counseling & College Planning is responsible for ensuring that the students and parents/guardians of Orange Lutheran High School are receiving the highest quality academic and personal/social support services available, including but not limited to counseling, college planning, career planning, college entrance exam preparation, academic intervention programming, course registration and scheduling assistance, and academic support programming. Carries out supervisory responsibilities that align with school policy and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
- Provide leadership, strategic planning, and visioning for the Counseling & College Planning Department
- Counseling & College Planning
- College Planning
- Course Scheduling and Registration
- Academic Planning
- Social/emotional support for students
- College Outreach and partnerships, College Representative Visits
- Administration of department/Director duties
- Coordinate with HR - time off requests, Paycom logistics, updated job descriptions, employee support/accountability
- Manage and review (update when necessary) the counselor caseloads, and job responsibilities, and reevaluate/change as needed per the needs of the department and students
- Counseling department budget, credit card statement
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs as well as identify and acquire appropriate resources to ensure that the identified programs are student-focused and aligned with Orange Lutheran's purpose and mission, core values, academic standards, and strategic goals.
- Participate in conferences and community outreach to establish Orange Lutheran as a community partner and stay current with relevant developments.
- Professional development - conferences, training, memberships, college visits, etc; relationships with outside agencies and companies that can benefit OLu students; build and maintain relationships with other area counselors to keep abreast of best practices; develop and maintain relationships with college admissions professionals and other working professionals in the fields of psychology, education, and counseling.
- Schoolwide SEL initiatives
- Plan and implement school-wide testing days
- Systematically analyze aggregate data to inform subsequent programming
- Determine and implement the school's support service priorities. Review various support services on-campus as they relate to academics, personal/social support, and college & career planning on a regular and ongoing basis and analyze performance for effectiveness in improving these services.
- Assist the Administrative Team in developing and implementing school policies, programs, and procedures as they relate to school operations.
- Oversees the planning and implementation of:

- Counseling Events and Activities
- Graduation/Senior Farewell/Awards Night
- Summer Counseling Coverage and Tasks
- Summer counselor coverage/responsibilities
- Logistics/processes related to scheduling
- Schedule changes
- California Scholarship Federation
- OLu Peer Tutoring
- College Consulting Plus+ program in collaboration with the Associate Director of College Planning
- Social/Emotional well-being initiatives in collaboration with the Associate Director of Counseling
- Course Scheduling and Registration
- Annual review of new courses in collaboration with other Academic Leaders
- Collaborate with Department Chairs to ensure counselors are aware of policy changes, course pathways, and other nuances
- Back-end logistics for Powerschool (course titles, course numbers, prereqs, etc)
- Incoming 9th Registration planning/logistics
- Returning student Registration planning/logistics
- Provide oversight and approval for the course registration process, including schedule changes, withdrawals, the petition process, and incomplete.
