The **Reentry Peer Support Specialis**t plays a crucial role in supporting individuals who are transitioning from incarceration back into the community. They provide peer support, guidance, and resources to help these individuals successfully reintegrate into society. The specialist collaborates with other professionals, community organizations, and the justice system to facilitate a smooth reentry process.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Peer Support: Offer one-on-one and group peer support services to justice-involved individuals who are being released from prison. Assist clients in overcoming barriers related to reentry, mental health, and substance use. Provide emotional support, encouragement, and empathy during the transition.

2. Resource Navigation: Help clients access community resources, such as housing, employment, healthcare, and social services. Connect clients with relevant programs and agencies that can assist with their specific needs. Educate clients about available resources and empower them to make informed decisions.

3. Skills Development: Teach coping skills, stress management techniques, and problem-solving strategies. Facilitate workshops on job readiness, financial literacy, and life skills. Encourage clients to develop healthy coping mechanisms and positive behaviors.

**Qualifications**:

- Lived Experience: Must have personal experience with incarceration, recovery, or reentry.
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social sciences.
- Skills: Excellent communication, active listening, and empathy.
- Knowledge: Understanding of trauma, substance use, and mental health challenges.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 17.5 per week

**Experience**:

- Addiction counseling: 1 year (preferred)

Ability to Commute:

- Suffolk County, NY (required)

Ability to Relocate:

- Suffolk County, NY: Relocate before starting work (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (preferred)
