Supervising Disposal Site Representative

Supervising Disposal Site Representative positions train, schedule, assign, coordinate, and evaluate the work of fee collection personnel at the Miramar Landfill; supervise fee collection personnel and recommend rewards/discipline to supervisors; develop, implement, and evaluate alternative fee collection procedures; act as liaison with other departments and vendors; review statistical reports; and perform other duties as assigned.
NOTES:

- Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:
- 4% effective 7/1/24- 2% effective 1/1/25- 5% effective 7/1/25- In addition to the scheduled general wage increases, the following special salary wage increases are also scheduled to take effect for Supervising Disposal Site Representative:
5% effective 1/1/25
5% effective 1/1/26
- Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
- Supervising Disposal Site Representative positions may require bilingual communication skills for which an additional $1.40 per hour may be paid.
- The Miramar Landfill is open 361 days per year in all weather conditions. As such, working conditions at the landfill fee booths are occasionally less than ideal. In the course of normal duties, Supervising Disposal Site Representative employees may encounter insects, snakes, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, extreme temperatures, poor lighting, and intense noise from MCAS military jets.
- Supervising Disposal Site Representative employees will be required to work rotating shifts, some weekends, and some holidays.
- Supervising Disposal Site Representative employees are expected to manage and perform fee booth collection duties, if necessary, to keep traffic flowing and minimize queuing of incoming costumers while always ensuring the correct collection of disposal fees.
- The Miramar Landfill fee booths process over 300,000 incoming transactions per year. Skills to diffuse and educate difficult customers on a routine basis are essential.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated.

EXPERIENCE: One year of full-time experience as a fee collection supervisor (a position that supervises and participates in the work performed by fee collection personnel; schedules and makes daily work assignments; balances cash receipts and deposits cash/checks received; processes credit card charges; explains and enforces policies, rules, regulations, and fee schedules to the public; operates and maintains computerized register systems; trains and evaluates the work performance of employees) at a landfill or similar work environment (e.g., toll booth, recycling facility, outdoor parking facility, other outdoor facility).

NOTE:

- City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.

LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
