Mental Health Workers treat all residents of the Fenwood Inn with dignity and respect through interactions which affirm the individual’s needs and preferences and by optimally integrating their perspective into all facets of care.

**_ Please Note:_** This position is 40 hours per week, 2nd shift (night). Hours are 3:30 pm - 12:00 am, with alternating week one Monday and Wednesday off and week two Sunday and Monday off. Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.

**Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive)**:

- At the beginning of each shift, staff person is assigned to specific client rooms to assist clients in organizing their space, completing their ADL’s, problem-solving, and communicating with other clients and staff.
- Assists in intake duties for new clients, including welcoming clients, searching belongings, orienting them to the milieu, etc.
- Plans, assigns and coordinates client schedules and services.
- Provides programmatic direct care services in the skills of daily living by instructing and/or assisting clients in feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, clothing, maintenance, oral and physical hygiene, self-preservation, etc., to ensure that the daily needs and the human rights of the clients are met.
- Assists in the implementation of habilitative/rehabilitative behavioral and recreational programs, communicating to team about observations regarding client behavior, needs, desires or problems.
- Provides assistance in office-related tasks such as copying, filing, etc.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and write clearly, and concisely, expressing thoughts succinctly and developing ideas in a logical sequence
- Skilled at verbal communication and gathering information through observing and engaging individuals in discussion
- Adept at establishing rapport with people who are under physical and emotional stress and dealing tactfully with persons from varied ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds
- Capacity to work in a team setting and in group situations
- Maintains accurate records and able to gather information by examining records and documents
- Able to lift and carry heavy objects or persons

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

**Qualifications**

**MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS**: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health or retardation may be substituted for the required experience.*
- Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
