As the Laminator Operator your responsibilities include but are not limited to; operating a laminating machine to take two substrates and bond them together using various adhesives. You will follow specifications on the job ticket to complete the lamination process to meet all requirements. You are also responsible for verifying quality of manufactured material and reviewing product for defects to ensure the highest quality product for our customers. As the Laminator Operators you may also rewind rolls to ensure ink drying or to fix roll profile. Rate $19-$20

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Review job work instructions/tickets and set up the lamination machine properly for the job, including adhesive type, quantity to run, number of copies, proper raw material, adhesive location, coat weight, material orientation, bond strength, and more.
- Operate the machine to convert raw material and printed material to laminated rolls by following operating procedures.
- During lamination, operator identifies and corrects quality issues immediately, such as hard wrinkles, tunneling, weak bond levels, striations, adhesive skips, low treat levels, shrinkage, etc.
- Setting up, monitoring, and maintaining adhesive mixture for water base/solventless 2-part system is especially critical. Back side treatment must be monitored for every roll. Must fill out operator run conditions form for machine records.
- Follow company procedures and requirements for verification of the product ID numbers and visual inspection with supervisor/QC sign off.
- Verify information on roll history card and hot box log are filled out and accurate. Then place laminated rolls in the hot room.
- Communicate with Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and/or Scheduler regarding issues with the lamination, including over or under runs, lamination quality, or ID number questions.
- Maintains the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed Fortis policies and safety regulations.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks when needed.
- Additional duties as required.

**Requirements**:
Education and Experience:

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year machine operation experience, printing related production experience preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret a ruler.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Good communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Motivated by task accomplishment and comfortable doing routine tasks at a high level.
- Must be proactive to catch problems or inconsistencies and bring them to managements attention.
- Good organization skills to manage multiple different labels each day.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- None

Training Requirements:

- Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Physical Demands:

- Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, and associated repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance.

Work Environment:

- Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
- Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.

Personal Protective Equipment:

- Safety glasses are required when handing liquids.
- Safety toe shoes are required in the production area.
- Hearing protection is available and recommended.
