**Job Summary**:
The Language Program Office is a member of the International Division at UW-Madison and is the home of the American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), the Wisconsin Summer Language Institutes (WISLI), Project GO at UW-Madison, and the Regional Flagship Languages Initiative (RFLI) for Hindi, Indonesian, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese. The LPO strives to engage with, support, and foster further development of Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) through teaching, learning, and research both at UW and beyond.

In its capacity with AIPS, this position will primarily be responsible for working with AIPS leadership in the execution of grants and activities related to the AIPS mission. The AIPS Program Assistant would be expected to play a lead role in coordinating, facilitating, tracking, and communicating the activities of one or more projects. These activities include, but are not limited to, pre-departure orientations, virtual workshops, summer institutes in the US, and events in Pakistan.

**Responsibilities**: Provides administrative support for a department, group of professionals, or to the manager of a work group consisting of professional staff and subordinate supervisors in support of unit goals, under general supervision
- 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
- 15% Serves as a first point of contact for individuals and groups, provides basic organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums, and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
- 10% Collects, analyzes, and prepares various communication materials from established sources utilizing technology mediums
- 20% Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
- 20% Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures
- 15% Serve as RFLI or AIPS representative at RFLI and AIPS events, meetings, etc.
- 5% Other duties as assigned for the LPO

**Education**:
Preferred

Ability to stay level-headed and maintain professionalism at times when there are multiple competing deadlines
Interest in area studies, international education, foreign language learning, study abroad, and related fields preferred
Interest/experience in the languages and cultures of the regions of the RFLI and AIPS programs preferred.

**Work Schedule**:
This position is full time and hours are expected to be within normal business hours.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

The continuation of this position is dependent on grant funding. Continued annual funding is expected but not guaranteed.
