BROC Community Action is seeking to immediately hire two **Energy Efficiency Educators** for our Weatherization Program. These positions are responsible for energy efficiency education and home evaluations for potential energy saving improvements for clients in Rutland and Bennington Counties. Most of the energy efficiency work is done through the State of VT Weatherization program and other local partnerships that help support low-income consumers in our area. This is a hybrid position including a variety of office duties and direct contact with our clients out in the field performing on-site home visits. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are required.

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week. $23 per hour, with generous benefits.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Evaluating, collecting, and documenting on-site energy data in clients’ homes while assessing for efficiency upgrade opportunities and health and safety concerns.
- Interviewing and providing education to clients on energy consumption patterns and building science principles related to weatherization services.
- Working cooperatively with the program director, subcontractor administrator, auditors, vendors, and subcontractors to achieve energy goals and success.
- Collaborating with the State Weatherization Program and other similar groups to coordinate and enhance services for participants throughout Vermont.

Qualifications:

- Understanding of building construction, materials, principles of energy efficiency, and the identification of health and safety concerns in residential construction.
- A willingness to learn and/or expand knowledge in building sciences.
- Knowledge of EPA - HUD lead safety practices.
- Experience with community outreach and engagement efforts.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of clients and staff.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Capacity to follow precise directions, prioritize, and multi-task to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stand, reach and perform other associated tasks and duties in relation to home inspections and evaluations. Home visits may include basements, attics, garages, and crawl spaces.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications (but not required):

- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification or equivalent.
- OSHA 10-hour training.

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
