**Job Title: Federal Litigation Paralegal**
**Location: Los Angeles Metropolitan Area**
**Summary**:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Drafting legal documents, formal discovery requests, notices, interrogatories, motions and summaries of depositions
- **Handling all processes in Federal Court and helping to manage the Firm's deadline tracking**:
- Assisting with locating and contacting witnesses, arranging for the interview and evaluation of witnesses, drafting witness declarations in proceedings and pretrial statements, and assisting with the preparation of witness testimony
- Compiling and organizing trial notebooks, exhibits and files
- Coordinating the scheduling of witnesses, assisting attorneys with witness issues, exhibits and note taking at State Bar trials
- Drafting formal discovery requests and responses, including special interrogatories, requests for admissions, production demands, deposition notices and motions to compel for the attorney
- Performing legal research including statutory and case law and drafts forms, research memoranda, proposed rules, orders and other documents
- Preparing summaries of depositions and court transcripts and witness testimony
- The Paralegal may perform a number of other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in a field that develops the skills required for the functions and responsibilities of the position
- Completion of an ABA approved paralegal program
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a paralegal
- Extensive experience handling cases in Federal Court
- Successful completion of the State Bar validated standard tests for the position
- Accomplished computer keyboarding skills
**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**
- Knowledge of attorney client relationships applicable to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position
- Principles of legal writing
- Problem identification, analysis and evaluation
- Principles of effective writing and verbal presentation
- Business math for completing non-technical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Computerized information and database record keeping systems
- Knowledge of Westlaw or other computerized legal research system(s)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
**ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS / ABILITIES**
- Possess visual capability and digital dexterity to operate a computer and other standard office equipment
- Make fine visual distinctions upon proofreading written documents and viewing information on a computer screen
- Communicate clearly and effectively in person and in writing
- Digital dexterity to assemble, retrieve and replace files
- Communicate by telephone
- Endure prolonged periods of sitting
- Speak clearly and articulate complex messages in digestible and understandable language
- Travel by air and automobile as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve and be a critical thinker
- Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
- Cooperative, positive attitude and team player
Pay: $75,715.43 - $100,323.96 per year
