**The Team You’ll Work With**

The Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management (CECM) is tasked with

coordination and management of all events permitting activity in New York City. CECM gathers and

disseminates information about upcoming and ongoing public events, including gatherings in City

parks, processions/parades, athletic races, street fairs, outdoor concerts, block parties, commercial and

promotional events and filming of motion pictures and television. CECM ensures informed decision
- making by the various permitting agencies, as well as compliance by permit applicants. CECM also acts

as an internal and external resource to the event community on overall event coordination, permitting,

and management. CECM works to enhance communication among various agencies involved in the

issuance of permits. The Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO), a unit within CECM, is responsible for the

issuing of permits for the use of city streets, sidewalks, and pedestrian plazas in all five boroughs for

commercial/promotional and civic events, as well as street fairs, block parties and farmers markets.

**The Problems You’ll Solve**

Reporting to the Senior Borough Manager, the Borough Manager is responsible for issuing permits,

coordinating with the support permitting agencies and reconciling payments for events. Additionally,

they serve as a city agency liaison providing direction and guidance to SAPO applicants, as well as

constituents on permitting and coordination issues.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the management and processing of all block party permits within the Borough

of Brooklyn.
- Responsible for managing data entry and maintaining detailed records for all Brooklyn

events, block parties, single block festivals, and health fairs under the direction of the Senior

Borough Manager.
- Establish and maintain a relationship with all Community Board offices, precincts, and Business

Improvement Districts (BIDs) within the borough of Brooklyn. Including attending their

meetings related to SAPO permitting of events.
- Follow up with applicants to ensure all support permits have been obtained based on individual

agency policy, rules, and regulations.
- Provide assistance to Citywide Fairs, Markets & Races Manager for street festivals, farmers

markets, and sidewalk sales.
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager on the processing of permits for the growing number

of pedestrian plazas citywide using knowledge of maintenance agreements, usable space and

other information.
- Work closely with the Senior Borough Manager to assist with invoicing, check processing, and
- Answer the SAPO hotline and provide general information to the public about obtaining a

permit.
- Assist with daily administrative support for the CECM & SAPO.
- Assist with special projects as needed.

Special working conditions cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work,

shift work, working outdoors, working with challenging clients. A fast-paced work environment that

includes managing changing priorities and a diverse workload. Flexibility with respect to schedule and

working conditions required. Ability to move and/or transport objects weighing less than or equal to 50

pounds as well as perform other physical activity.

**About You**
- **Education**—High School Diploma with two years of higher education preferred. Bachelor’s degree a

plus.
- **Experience**—At least two (2) years’ experience in Event Management or customer focused

industry. Government experience is a plus.
