**Job Description**:
**Job Title**: Clinical Risk Specialist Reports to: Clinical Risk Manager
**Department**: Risk Management FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
**Job Grade**: 8 Version Date: October 2023

**General Responsibilities**:

- The Clinical Risk Specialist, working under the leadership of the Clinical Risk Manager, plays a key role in organizing and implementing organizational clinical risk activities.

**Qualifications**:Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in science and or relevant degree or high school diploma plus 5 years of relevant experience.
- Professional appearance and excellent work attitude
- Excellent time management
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for daily visits to program sites

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience with quality improvement models and tools a plus

**Significant Job Functions**:

- Assists manager with implementing organizational risk and infection control initiatives.
- Assist with reviewing patient grievances through insurance or state departments by collecting information from the patient record, event reports, and employee reports and drafting initial responses for review by the manager. Works in collaboration with the Patient Experience Department on patient experience matters, as needed.
- Assists manager in setting up all root-cause analysis (RCA) meetings by preparing notebooks, filing educational information, requesting meeting rooms, preparing agendas, and attending all RCA meetings and taking minutes. Assists the RCA facilitator by attending all RCA meetings and taking and distributing minutes as appropriate.
- Works collaboratively with members of the risk and other support departments to review data to identify organizational risks and assist with implementing steps to reduce those risks.
- Assists manager in organizing data to support department reports and performance improvement. Works in collaboration with the Clinical Quality team on performance improvement.
- Assist manager in monitoring for changes to local, state, and federal regulatory changes that impact clinical operations.
- Assist manager by researching clinical best practices and standards of care to support clinical new and existing organizational policies, procedures, and standing orders as needed.
- Tracks department policies and procedures and keeps risk management procedural manuals updated.
- Assist the manager and director with carrying out infection control activities throughout all clinical sites,
- This includes onsite support with auditing for compliance and supporting site leadership with the implementation of infection control changes.
- Working in conjunction with Human Resources, providing guidance for occupational health and employee injury when needed.
- Takes and transcribes, prepares, and distributes meeting minutes as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Physical Effort/ Environment**:

- This role is hybrid.
- Extensive computer use.
- Transportation is needed to internal care settings.

**Work Schedule Demands**:

- Full-time position requiring regular business hours; some overtime and weekends may also be necessary.

**Communication Skills**:

- Exceptional oral and written skills needed and ability to develop and deliver public presentations.
