**Buyer**

Background: R&D Electric. is a Sacramento based electrical contractor working on commercial and industrial electrical projects including Energy Storage, Tenant Improvements, and other electrical projects. We are affiliated with the IBEW and NECA, and work with many local and national prime contractors, developers, and private clients. We are a small business with big projects and have been in business for over a year, and our leadership has over 30 years of combined experience in the electrical trades. Buyer works with multiple Project Managers and field staff to order building materials for projects. Buyer will pursue multiple quotes to find best value and continue to develop a list of suppliers. Buyer will ensure best value is achieved and multiple quotes are reviewed to buyout at the most competitive costs. Buyer will maintain records of the quotes conforming to company systems and issue POs for all purchased materials. Buyer will track status and make regular follow ups to confirm order status and maintain quoted timelines. Buyer will review project budget, buyout against budget and alert project team of material requests in excess of project budget.

Major Equipment - Buyer will organize and quote major procurement items at project initiation, ensuring both cost and lead time conform to project requirements. Buyer will work with estimators to review initial project requirements (see preconstruction below) and pursue re-quotes and additional quotes to find best value in advance of issuing POs. Buyer will ensure technical review is complete and submittals are approved in advance of releasing POs. Buyer will continue to monitor lead time and give notice to the project team based on any risk of delay.

Commodity purchases/ field requests
- buyer will receive incoming material requests and prepare purchase deliveries to various sites for short term material requests, i.e. pipe, fittings, wire. Buyer will review and acknowledge requisitions and issue POs, coordinate deliveries and will call where needed. Buyer along with the management team will try to reduce field purchases and credit card purchases. Buyer will review lookaheads on a weekly basis and review material forecasting with PMs or foreman.

Buyer will maintain organized files or system inputs, i.e. Issued POs in a way that the project team can review and audit purchasing activities. Buyer will be the common source of issuing POs to vendors and will work with Admin staff to capture any non
- PO based purchases, and record properly.

Understanding of electrical construction material, and equipment and being able to identify and quote material correctly.

Able to understand relevant portions of the construction budgets as related to purchasing and ensure timely feedback of over budget items and requests differing from extension reports, scope, etc.

Attend regular and ad hoc meetings, (remotely where possible), with project teams and PMs to ensure purchasing is on track. Able to call in the field team for clarifications on requisitions, etc.

Assist in return request of excess material through the course of the project including pickup requests in conjunction with incoming deliveries, return requests at completion of major scheduled tasks, i.e. underground complete, raceway complete, etc, and assist in correlating return items to POs.

ORGANIZATION:
Able to follow through and organize tasks, maintain a documented organizational method, and follow tasks through to completion.

Able to consistently maintain file structure, document naming protocol, and assess for missing items.

Able to use computers, spreadsheets, shared folders, project management tools effectively.

Able to take notes as needed.

Able to follow up on missing tasks in a supportive way and maintain records of expected items.

Able to track records and POs in a consistent and comprehensive way.

Able to be quantitative.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Review estimator quotes, extension reports, bid packages, specs and scope to prepare major equipment purchases and commodity/ bulk purchase quotes, lead times and prepare POs.

Understanding of electrical construction material, and equipment and being able to identify and quote material correctly.

Assist in pre-construction planning of items needed on site, etc.

Maintain open channel for clear field requisitions, acknowledgment thereof, and communicate purchasing status on all items.

Research of material items that need to be sourced.

ADMINISTRATION:
Maintain requisitions, quotes and Purchase Orders per the company system in folders and in PM systems

Follow up on all orders and maintain consistent updates on long lead time items.

Advise on delays and items at risk of going over budget.

Education: High school diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred.
