**Position Description**
- Based in Washington, DC and reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Associate Director of MTSS will be a key strategic leader and a critical contributor to the realization of the vision for MTSS services and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support within Rocketship. At Rocketship, we have made a strong historical commitment to the social-emotional development of our students as well as implementing best practices in supporting behavior. For multiple years, a regular daily component of our school day is a dedicated block to proactively teach social-emotional skills. We have well-built PBIS systems and routines at every campus as well as a well-built out suite of social-emotional and behavior interventions. The Associate Director of MTSS is responsible for the ongoing elevation of these systems and structures as well as the delivery of many of these services including but not limited to: social-emotional learning, social-emotional & behavioral interventions and supports, etc. Our approach to Multi-Tiered Systems Support (MTSS) serves all students through an innovative approach that includes coaching and deep partnership with our general education partners, integrated special education (ISE) partners, school leaders, and related service providers. To best serve our Rocketeers and meet their needs, we work to serve students across all areas of need: academic, social-emotional, and behavior.
- The Associate Director of MTSS will lead the Rocketship DC’s MTSS team to support the three DC school sites in order to ensure execution of high quality interventions and services across all student populations. The Associate Director of MTSS will collaborate with school leaders and the MTSS team by overseeing and coordinating Rocketship’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) framework for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral components. The Associate Director will also participate in the collaborative conversations of the MTSS leads across Rocketship’s five regions. This position requires experience interacting effectively with senior leadership, school-level administrators, students, parents and families.
**Essential Functions**:
**MTSS Team Leadership**:
- Create a vision and strategy for executing the MTSS process at Rocketship DC
- Develop and lead a high-performing MTSS Team toward supporting schools in ensuring exceptional outcomes for students and families with unique learning, social-emotional, and behavioral needs; model and sustain a culture of high performance and service orientation among team members
- Develop and coach Principals, Assistant Principals, and members of the MTSS Team to provide the appropriate level of day-to-day support to team
- Set high expectations and challenging, yet realistic, goals and hold staff accountable for achieving goals
- Promote collaboration and communication within and across teams
- Support the development of a motivated a team of highly skilled and driven individuals who execute at the highest level of excellence and consistent with the culture and mission of the organization; oversee training and support for all Rocketship MTSS Team members
**MTSS Program Design**:
- Design and execute staff professional development opportunities related to MTSS (pre-referral practices, Section 504 plans, behavioral and social-emotional interventions, crisis response,, etc.) for a range of audiences (MTSS counselors, school leaders, special education teachers, general education teachers, etc.).
- Design and lead regular team meetings and routines, inspiring and supporting the regional MTSS Team to support the vision for MTSS in Rocketship schools; facilitate learning and sharing of best practices related to MTSS across Rocketship’s MTSS Teams nationwide.
- Identify and secure resources that support the mental health and MTSS needs of Rocketeers through the MTSS process
- Manage contracts and relationships with external stakeholders providing mental health services in Rocketship schools
