Founded in 1910, visitors have been coming for our unforgettable guided tours for over 110 years We rely on incredible Admissions & Museum Store Associates to serve our 100,000 annual visitors from all over the country and the world. On a personal level, we are a collection of history, literature, architecture, and art nerds who love sharing our passions with others.

Our ideal Admissions & Museum Store Associates are hard-working team-players with a passion for history, storytelling, and delivering a 5-star visitor experience. Do you love meeting new people? **What You’ll Do**:
Once trained, you’ll be the first and/or last staff member to interact with our visitors, so you will be a key part of their experience. We have high standards, and we will support you in achieving them as you perform the following duties:

- Greet and direct customers, provide outstanding service, drive sales through sharing accurate information about products, the museum, and Salem
- Complete transactions, accurately handle money, credit cards and cash receipts
- Help restock and tidy the store when there are no customers and at end of day by cleaning glass, dusting shelves, and straightening merchandise.
- Help manage our parking lot during peak times.

**Your Schedule**:

- Available to work at least one day weekly through October
- Average of 4 to 16+ hours per week

**Requirements**:

- Enjoys working with the public
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Excellent communication and math skills
- Ability to absorb information quickly
- Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and listen for extended periods
- Occasionally climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Intermediate computer proficiency for use of web-based programs for payroll, scheduling, and point of sale operations.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Passion for history and literature
- Applicants with retail or museum experience are a great fit
- This is a great job for history, literature, and education students and enthusiasts

**Compensation & What Historical Interpreters Receive**:

- $15.30 an hour + Peak Season Bonus of $1 from July 1st to October 31st.
