**Shelter Bilingual Victim Advocate**

**ORGANIZATION**:
The Williamson County Crisis Center dba Hope Alliance has been promoting the fundamental right for all individuals to be safe in their personal relationships for over 35 years. Hope Alliance operates under the belief that physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse of one human being by another is unacceptable. Located in Round Rock, Texas and serving Williamson County and Northern Travis County, Hope Alliance provides crisis services to both adult and child victims of Family Violence and/or Sexual Assault. We attempt to safeguard our clients’ rights through a broad array of innovative, client-centered, trauma-informed direct services, community education, and advocacy. We currently serve more than 2,500 women, men and children annually.

**POSITION**:
Hope Alliance is seeking an energetic and accomplished human service professional to serve as one of the members of the advocacy team. This Bilingual Victim Advocate will provide trauma-informed victim services to domestic and sexual violence survivors.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Reporting to the Shelter Director, the Bilingual Victim Advocate will provide individualized and strength-based advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention to resident and nonresident clients, with a focus on Spanish-speaking individuals and an emphasis on legal advocacy. It is expected that the Hope Alliance Bilingual Victim Advocate will:

- Possess a professional style that empowers and encourages clients,
- Meet with clients in Hope Alliance office, shelter, hospital, police station, and other locations as needed.
- Assist clients in utilizing the legal system including but not limited to accompanying them to police station and court to file charges, accessing Crime Victim Compensation, and securing protective orders.
- Cover monthly on-call rotation, responding to family and sexual violence victims at local hospitals and police departments as the State-Certified Advocate,
- Complete documentation and assist with client data collection for programming, financial and statistical purposes,
- Understand, accept, respect and be a champion of agency philosophy, mission, and values,
- Conduct client intakes, assess legal needs, assist in navigating legal systems and offer support through court accompaniment activities, and
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, including answering crisis hotline calls when needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in child development, psychology, social work or related field or equivalent experience is required; a Master’s degree is preferred; Spanish bilingual is required.
