**Job Summary**:
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Prepares all Adverse Action letters for applicants who were denied credit.
- Identifies opportunities to cross-sell and upsell credit union lending and debt protection products to maximize loan growth and relays information to branch and call center staff.
- Process home equity loans including providing required disclosures in a timely manner, ordering property searches, and property valuations as needed.
- Reviews all closing documents for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Responds to Quality Control issues and takes corrective action as necessary.
- Determines value of collateral for secured loans and that credit union obtains perfected interest in the collateral.
- Orders all required reports for real estate secured loans (i.e. property search, flood, appraisal, title report etc..) and reviews for accuracy and any issues preventing the extension of credit.
- Stays current on all NMLS and Federal loan regulations and credit union policies, updating information for national database as required and completes annual SAFE Act training.
- Participates in available credit union self-development education programs and required compliance courses through self-study, Digital University, Lending Development Training, and credit union training department.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
- Adheres to the FHCU service standards as established.
**Qualification Requirements**
**Educational/Training Requirement**:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's degree, preferred
**Experience**:
- Two (2) or more years of experience as a loan underwriter or equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Licenses/Certifications**:
- Registered and active NMLS number
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Thorough Knowledge of Federal lending regulations, NMLS requirements and credit union lending policy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and using the web
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret lending policies, as stated in the Loan Policy Manual, Regulation Z, etc.
- Ability to interact with others in a professional manner
- Ability to develop adeptness in credit union and lending software programs
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
**Physical Requirements**:
The physical demands require a person to remain seated for up to eight (8) hours per day and perform repetitive hand movements on a keyboard.
