Under basic supervision, the Parks Maintenance Worker maintains City parks and recreation areas and facilities by maintaining removing trash and debris, cleaning restrooms, and mowing and trimming trees and grass.

**Responsibilities**:
PRIMARY **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties._
- Maintains City recreation areas; repairs park equipment and playground areas; replaces and repairs signs and walking paths as needed; removes trash and debris; mows, trims, and maintains grass, trees, and plants in park areas; maintains and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems.
- Operates and maintains a variety of tools and equipment to complete tasks and projects.
- Collects and delivers recyclables to recycling center monthly.
- Hauls and moves furniture to and from City facilities. Sets up and breaks down special events.
- Assists the Recreation Division with programs. May be required to work overtime.
- **DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS**:
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of parks or landscape maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

**Required Licenses or Certifications**:

- Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s license.

**Required Knowledge of**:

- General maintenance tools, materials, and methods.
- Safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Basic landscape maintenance practices and procures.
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances. **Required Skill in**:

- Operating a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- Following written and verbal instructions.
- Maintaining a professional manner when interacting with City employees and the public.
- Reading and interpreting maintenance and equipment manuals.
- Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

**Physical Demands**:

- Work is performed throughout City facilities and requires moderate physical exertion.
- May be exposed to various weather conditions, potentially dangers tools, equipment, and machinery, heights, and hazardous chemicals.
- Work may include physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, bending/twisting and performing repetitive motions.
- Job requires lifting of heavy objects weighing approximately 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. **Work Environment**:
