**Position Summary**:Foster Christian community by building relationships with children and their families, strengthening ties to the church, recruiting and training volunteers, and creating an environment where children and students are kept safe, taken seriously, and where diversity is respected.Responsible for programs and activities for children that provide opportunities for growth in Christian faith and putting faith into action.

**Job Classification**:This is a 20-hour/week position with a flexible schedule that includes maintaining a regular presence in the church office, Sunday morning worship, and occasional multi-day events

**Primary Areas of Responsibility**:

- Sunday School (9:15am service) & Kid Central (10:30am service) — Coordinate and oversee programs and volunteers for Sunday morning children’s programs
- Summer children’s activities — Develop and oversee summer ministry programming such as VBS, story time, or open play events
- “Safe church” — Ensure the Child and Youth Abuse Prevention Program is implemented, including training staff and volunteers working with children and maintaining updated background checks
- Communication — Coordinate publicity for children’s activities, providing regular updates to the TVLC council
- Milestone Ministries — Collaborate with volunteers to provide education and commemorate important life events

- Lead large group activities and events for children and families
- Self-directed
- Recruit and inspire volunteers
- Work well with others
- Sensitive to the personal and spiritual needs of children, students, and their families
- Clear sense of ethical limits and “safe-church” boundaries
- Create and work within a budget

**Education/Training/Experience**:

- Degree in education or related field
- Minimum three years’ experience in children’s ministry
- Knowledge of and comfort with ELCA Lutheran theology
- A vibrant personal faith and commitment to following Jesus and sharing his love

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $19,000.00 - $21,500.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
