**HOUSING QUALITY STANDARDS INSPECTOR - SECTION 8**

**PROGRAM SPECIALIST II**

**HOUSING ASSISTANCE DIVISION**

**REGULAR & CONTRACT POSITIONS**

**LOCATED IN ALHAMBRA**

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:

- The Housing Assistance Division has openings for an opening for a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Inspectors for its Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). The HQS Inspector performs Housing Quality Standards (including Lead-Based paint compliance) inspections of housing units, throughout Los Angeles County, that are subsidized under the rent subsidy programs administered by the Los Angeles County Development Authority.

**Essential Job Duties**:
**_The essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:_**
- Performs Housing Quality Standards (including Lead-Based paint compliance) inspections.
- Identifies owner or participant responsibility for repairs.
- Recommends appropriate corrective action for inspection deficiencies.
- Completes inspection reports for each subsidized unit. Interprets and implements HUD regulations and guidelines.
- Provides general program information to the public.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision,
- Ability to multi-task and perform efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work directly with the public,
- Demonstrates sensitivity to clientele and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds, persons with special needs, the homeless, and working with low-income housing programs or related fields.

**Qualifications**:

- A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis._

Two years of work experience conducting housing-related inspections or working in a field focused on ensuring building compliance, safety, and adherence to codes. *AA degree or equivalent college credits can substitute for one year of work experience.

- Salary compensation is dependent on qualifications (experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities). Initial salary placement is generally made between the start and mid-point of the posted range. New hires are not eligible to start at the maximum of the posted range.
**Conditions of Employment**
- Failure to meet these pre-employment requirements will be grounds for withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment.
- Proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required at the time of hire.
- Employment with the LACDA is at-will and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
