What you'll do:
We are looking for an exceptional attorney who is experienced in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and providing day-to-day business and legal advice to support our growing legal department at Viasat’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

The day-to-day:
What you'll need:

- 5+ years of corporate legal experience, of which 2+ years at a large national law firm.
- 1-3 years of in-house legal experience.
- J.D. and member of the bar in good standing.
- U.S. citizenship required.

What will help you on the job:
**Extensive Experience in Contract Drafting and Negotiations, and Industry Experience**
- Excellent and demonstrated contract drafting and negotiating skills, particularly with respect to complex contracts that involve equipment sales and delivery of services that typically utilize SLAs.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: (1) aviation industry, (2) telecommunications industry, or (3) satellite industry.

- Strong business acumen, with an ability to understand and analyze legal, operational, and business risks.
- Strong analytical skills and judgment necessary to problem-solve and advise internal stakeholders on legal and business risks — and the written and verbal skills to effectively communicate the reasoning in recommending solutions.
- Solutions-oriented, with excellent problem-solving abilities and judgment.
- Able to provide creative and practical legal and business advice.
- Able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the business, including the ability to reduce complex issues to simple communication.
