**REGISTERED NURSE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**PRIMARY FUNCTION**:
To monitor and participate in providing nursing and health care services to residents according to the policies and procedures of this facility and within the standards of the California Nurse Practice Art,

**REPORTS TO**:QIDP**/**ADMINISTRATOR

**Responsibilities**:
The RN shall:

- Be employed eight hours a day, on the day shift; five days a week plus weekend & On-Call availability
- Have administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of nursing services.
- Monitor LNS ratio according to Title XXIl requirements,
- Monitor the implementation of the nurse assistant training and certification program, the orientation of new employees, the in-service education program, and conduct the corporate certification program for DCS and LNS as scheduled.
- Participate, when appropriate, as a member of the ID team in at least the following:

- Pre-admission evaluation
- Program design and placement of client at the time of admission.
- Periodic re-evaluation of the type, extent, and quality of services and programming.
- Discharge planning.
- Referral to appropriate community resources.
- Develop a written plan for each client to provide for nursing services as a part of the ISP and modify such plan every six (6) months. This plan shall include measures for the prevention or treatment of decubitus ulcers, contractures, and deformities.
- Supervise, in conjunction with the consultant pharmacist, the appropriate administration of medications and treatments as specified in Title XXIl.
- Effectively review, in conjunction with the pharmacist consultant, drug regimen of each client and prepare appropriate reports.
- Be designated as being responsible for the control of drugs listed in Schedules II, ID, and IV.
- Be involved with the pharmacist, in the disposal of all Schedule II, ID, or IV drugs, and may be involved in the disposal of other drugs when the pharmacist is not available. The RN shall maintain records of the disposal of three years, either in the client records or in a separate log.
- Attend the following:

- IDT Meetings
- Human Rights meetings.
- Infection Control meetings (and be considered chairperson of same)
- Be responsible for reporting communicable diseases and outbreaks to the local health officer.
- Coordinate the dental program as outlined in Title XXII.
- Maintain client records in compliance with Title XXII requirements.
- Monitor all personnel records for nursing staff in accordance with Title XXII requirements,
- Utilize the Medical Director as a consultant in areas relating to client care.
- Complete Corporate Quality Reviews as scheduled.
- The RN will teach medication administration course, Blood Bourne Pathogen, monitor staff to become medication certified, and provide in-services to staff monthly.
- The RN will also attend all other meetings.
- The RN will provide proper training to the individual served and staff on a going basis.
- Review all medication documentation and recordings for compliance with acceptable standards of no less often than every two (2) weeks. Such review shall be documented in the unit client record with specific notation of all non-compliances found.
- Order, inventory and property maintains equipment and supplies as listed in Title XXII.
- Sign in each time she/he is in the facility and document tasks accomplished during those hours (e.g. initial evaluations, in-service, etc).
- Provide in-services a minimum of twice yearly, or as needed; to be scheduled with Staff Developer.

Will prepare and submit an outline of content to be covered as well as pre and/or post test questions.
- Conduct quarterly physical assessments for each client.
- The RN will follow up on the individual’s change of conditions reports, body checks, accident/injury, tracking logs in Therap, etc, to ensure that each individual receives timely and proper medical intervention as required.
- The RN will administer TB test and or with assistance of the LVN’s administer TB test to individual’s served and staff and read results as scheduled.
- The RN will order vaccines and boosters as ordered by the Physician.
- The RN will call in any client order to the Pharmacy and or with the assistance of the LVN”s and ensure all orders and inputted accurately into Therap.
- The RN will notify the QIDP/Administrator when not available due to be off, vacation, availability due to be a contract worker.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
