A **Baker **is central to the Panera essence of warmth and quality. Our breads and pastries are an important brand representative, embodying the knowledge expertise and commitment to baking bread and baked goods that help exemplify our “Concept Essence” at Panera.

**Fundamental Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Essential Functions**
- Bake the majority of a cafe’s fresh bread and pastries.
- Ensure all Panera products are prepared according to Panera’s standards.
- Meet the highest standards and consistency in food preparation, sanitation, and safety.
- Team player; accept responsibility for all tasks delegated by Management.
- Primarily work alone with mínimal supervision.
- Perform operational activities such as stocking, prep, and sanitation.
- Work as a team with Management and fellow Team Members.
- Incorporate the concept essence and cultural values into daily operation of the bakery-cafe.
- Show respect for the equipment and facility by adhering to cleaning and proper operation.

**Physical Demands of the Essential Functions**
- Ability to stand up for ten hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Ability to move at a fast pace.

**Working Conditions While Performing the Essential Functions**
- Evening/late night shift.
- Fast paced, multi-tasked environment.

**Qualifications Preferred**
- Experience working in food preparation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Desire to learn and develop.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude.
- Self-starter, able to work independently.

**Performance or Production Standards**
- Complete knowledge of bakery menu items and preparation.
- Job knowledge - Demonstrates a working knowledge of their job. Demonstrate a desire to do the job well.
- Attendance - Demonstrates responsibility for their schedule.
- Uniform/Appearance - Wears the proper uniform, is well groomed and makes a good impression.
- Attitude - Employee gets along well with peers and management staff.

**THE BORING LEGAL STUFF**
- In order to perform the basic job duties, you must be able to do the following with reasonable or no accommodations:_
- Walk, move, traverse
- The person in this position must have the ability to stand up to 12 hours, move about the restaurant to access the dining room, prep area, restrooms, and dumpster area.
- Use hands/fingers to handle or feel operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position. May use a register, slicer, knives, scissors, other machinery, and a computer.
- Climb (ladders) or balance, ascend/descend, work atop, traverse; occasionally ascends/descends a step ladder to reach product on top shelves.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, position self (to), move. Constantly positions self to maintain cleanliness of restaurant, including under the tables and prep areas. Also, to retrieve product.
- Talk/hear, communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information; the person in this position frequently communicates with fellow employees or guests. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Taste/smell detect, distinguish, determine, not applicable.
- Carry weight, lift, move, transport, position, put, install, remove; frequently moves product, dishes, boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure hot/cold. Constantly exposed to low temperatures in walk-in freezer and cooler. Constantly exposed to high heat in walk-in oven, or wall mounted ovens.
