Law Firm Controller/bookkeeper

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Controller/Bookkeeper.As a pivotal member of our financial management team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate financial records for our law firm.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Financial Management:

- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts, and manage banking relationships to optimize liquidity and financial stability.

2. Financial Reporting:

- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for annual audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

- Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with department heads to establish financial targets and performance metrics.
- Monitor budget-to-actual variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions to achieve financial goals and objectives.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards, including but not limited to tax regulations, legal requirements, and professional standards.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance financial performance.

5. Software and Technology:

- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and other financial management tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Stay abreast of advancements in accounting technology and recommend software upgrades or enhancements as needed.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Proven experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel); experience with legal accounting software (e.g., PCLaw, Clio) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
