Muskegon Community College, an associate degree-granting institution of higher education, is a center for lifelong learning which provides persons the opportunity to attain their educational goals by offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs.

MCC is a public community college, with a full-time equated student enrollment of approximately 2,300 and unduplicated head count of approximately 5,100. MCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and has nearly a 100-year history of academic excellence and a sound reputation as a premier transfer institution. It is nationally recognized for its liberal arts and occupational programs.

The College has an annual operating budget (general fund) of $44 million and employs about 210 regular full and part-time staff and many adjunct faculty and student assistants. The College also offers 56 Associate degree programs and 29 certificate programs.

The main campus is located on a 111-acre campus in Muskegon which includes the Hendrik Meijer Library & Information Technology Center, Bartels-Rode Gymnasium, Frauenthal Foundation Fine Arts Center (including the Overbrook Theater and Art Gallery), Stevenson Center for Higher Education, the Science Center, the Health and Wellness Center, and the Art & Music Center.

MCC also operates extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo Counties, as well as the Sturrus Technology Center in downtown Muskegon.

**STARTING SALARY RANGE**:$16.46 to $17.98/hour depending on experience

**General Description**:
Perform clerical duties and assistance for the departments to maintain a professional, well-organized and friendly environment among the students, faculty/staff and visitors. Duties include clerical, receptionist, scheduling, and other assignments relative to efficient operations of department and/or college. General work hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00AM. - 5:30PM, Friday 8:00AM-12:00PM.

1. Associates Degree or two years’ customer service experience/office, with a preference to individual with sports and wellness knowledge.

2. Ability to take minutes for committees assigned, document processes and follow detailed procedures for departments.

3. Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and social-economic backgrounds.

4. Demonstrated ability to operate office technology, software, & equipment. Establishing yourself as the “go to” person with all equipment and software.

5. Ability and willingness to upgrade skills including technology or process changes.

6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty/staff, and outside persons.

7. Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and solid decision-making skills.

8. Demonstrated use of tact, judgment and discretion as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality when working with students, faculty/staff and others.

9. Demonstrated history of dependability and punctuality.

10. Ability to stay calm while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

11. Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College.

15. Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation and writing techniques with the ability to produce malleable documents.

16. Requires prolonged sitting or standing, keyboarding and work on computer (hand/eye strain), speaking in English via phone or in person.

17. Flexible scheduling /willingness to allow for occasional evening and weekend work.

**Essential Function**:
1. Schedule appointments, welcome guests, students, faculty and assist supervisors and teams with all administrative responsibilities as well as staff the front desk in the HWC when needed.

2. Prepare reports, programs, including all-star programs, brochures, travel request, budgets, purchase orders, eligibility, inventory sheets, schedules and other material from rough draft or corrected copy as necessary.

3. Prepare accurate faculty load sheets for full-time and adjunct instructors with appropriate process and approvals.

4. Coordinate instructors’ selection of classes for future semesters according to deadlines set by the registrar’s office.

5. Prepare materials and forms for faculty evaluation, program evaluation, and long-range planning program and accreditation activities.

6. Coordinate athletic scheduling. Prepare/confirm athletic dates and times with officials
