**Summary**: Contributes to store profitability by adequately stocking shelves. Prices new items and may be responsible for new product displays. Assists customers by answering product questions and assisting in product location questions. Performs duties that comply with Metcalfe’s safety standards and local health code procedures and standards. This position requires working weekends and holidays, based on department staffing requirements.

**Essential Duties**: Essential job duties for this position include the following items.
- Assists customers including greeting them and responding to questions and requests
- Demonstrates excellent customer service standards
- Works toward continuous quality improvement
- Examines incoming shipments and compare inventory to bill of lading or invoices
- Unpacks and examines items for quality
- Records damaged or rejected items
- Organizes and rotates merchandise on sales floor shelving, on display or in the stockroom
- Keeps aisles neat and orderly
- Prices merchandise on display when missing or as directed
- Informs pricing department/management of incorrect pricing or signage to ensure accuracy
- Sustains a high level of product knowledge
- Assists front end by responding to questions, price checks, and requests as needed
- Upholds, supports and promotes all company policies and procedures
- Upholds Metcalfe’s culture, customer service, and performance expectations
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- 6 months previous retail experience preferred

Language Skills:

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
