Finishing Associate

Responsible for the daily operation of finishing area equipment while maintaining the established quality standards.
- Read, understand and comply with the instructions listed in the grinding standards and/or customer work order.
- Able to operate the blast machine and hydraulic wedge.
- Inspects basic castings to identify defects, scrap castings and castings requiring re-blasting.
- Use hand grinders for grinding small or non-complex castings to customer specification.
- Re-blast all castings as required following the work order and inspection of re-blasted castings.
- Keep blast machine full of shot and maintain dust hoppers to ensure that they are empty and available for use.
- Report any unusual noises or malfunctions or defective equipment to the supervisor.
- Place castings in containers and identify as necessary.
- Determine acceptability of basic castings according to inspection standards and consult supervisor for clarification.
- Perform gauging.
- Complete required paperwork for each completed work order inclusive of maintaining an accurate count of all ground castings on daily time sheet.
- Perform daily PM on equipment and report any defective equipment to group lead.
- Adheres to 6s and safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
