**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Plan, supervise, and implement the educational program in accordance with the policies, procedures, and philosophy of Cornerstone School, DCYF, RIDE, DHS, and BrightStars.
- Align lesson plans with the RIELDS.
- Teach all children, including students with disabilities, using a developmentally appropriate curriculum approach and positive guidance techniques. This must follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by DCYF, BrightStars, and RIDE and in conjunction with the IEP, where applicable.
- Collaborate with Special Educator to ensure differentiation, IEP compliance, and inclusive practices to support learning for all.
- Must be willing to work to meet the guidelines set forth by the BrightStars framework, and work to achieve a higher star rating.
- Ensure that all children, parents, and staff are treated with respect. Preschool teachers should demonstrate professionalism that is respectful toward each family's beliefs and culture.
- Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, decor, and classroom learning environment.
- Conduct required evaluation and assessment of children in a timely and periodic manner to assess the developmental levels of the enrolled students. Must also complete the training (when required) for using Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system.
- Assist in the training of classroom staff and supervise in an effective manner.
- Establish, maintain, and ensure ongoing family involvement and open communication.
- Attend required staff meetings and recommended training programs to maintain professional development. Professional Development requires 20 hours per year, set forth by DCYF guidelines.

**Peripheral Duties and Responsibilities:?**

- Ensure that all children, parents, and staff are treated with dignity and respect.
- Provide ongoing training, encouragement, and support to teacher assistants in the classroom to ensure their role as part of the educational team.
- Develop an understanding of childrens health issues in the classroom and train assistants to maintain this standard on a daily basis.
- Demonstrate and model at all times the professional behavior of teachers.
- Set a professional standard within the classroom and community to which teacher assistants can model.
- Assist in the toileting, changing, feeding, and care of children in the classroom.
- Provide a harmonious, respectful, professional, and stimulating classroom environment for children and staff.
- Complete weekly lesson plans
- Maintain a practice that supports the philosophy that all work of the student is focused on process and not product.
