**About This Role**:
The Buildings & Grounds Custodial unit consists of two Custodial Services Supervisors, one Maintenance & Operations Technician, and twenty-three Custodians (two of these positions are part-time). Sixteen custodial members work the day shift and eight work the night shift. Therefore, this position would require you to work hours that overlap with both day and night shifts. The hours for this position will be 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
This Custodial Operations Superintendent position would be responsible for overseeing the entire Custodial operation and would be responsible for the following:

- Request for Proposals (RFP) process for custodial services.
- Provides oversight, directly and through subordinates, over the custodial contractor.
- Develop and/or oversee the scheduling of specialized cleaning tasks like carpet shampooing and window cleaning completed by the contractor.
- Environmental Hazard Management for the division - Oversee the proper use and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Budget Management - Evaluate fiscal needs and assist in the development and management of custodial budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality. Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the annual budget; participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; implements adjustments.
- Client Relations - Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their custodial needs and address any concerns. Proactively communicate with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement. Investigate and resolve complaints from building occupants regarding custodial services, and make adjustments in service and contracts as necessary
- Developing departmental/divisional polices or Standard Operating Procedures for custodial-related issues. Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
- Setting Custodial Standards - by researching and benchmarking other jurisdictions. Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work plan for custodial services; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Safety Compliance - Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures, safety protocols and established standards of service including investigating potential or actual safety hazards, and the evaluation and enforcement of work standards.
- Cleaning Opportunities - Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment. Conduct regular inspections to ensure that our facilities are a clean and safe environment.
- Opportunities for efficiency - work to create consistency for all of the custodial operations. Continually look for more efficient processes and procedures.
- Hiring/Development of current employees: This position would be responsible for determining organizational structure and staffing by hiring, training, and supervising new employees. Motivate subordinates and ensure they are receiving the training that is required and will often be coordinating the necessary training for the custodial staff.
- Providing leadership to subordinate supervisors in planning, establishing, and maintaining the highest achievable custodial programs commensurate with the resources made available. Evaluate assigned personnel; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Administrative functions of custodial services - Prepares written reports, memoranda, and correspondence on a variety of matters regarding the administration and operation of custodial services.

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 7 years of related experience**.**
