As a Head of Safety, Fleet & Compliance, you will lead the safety & compliance strategy and organization, focused on managing enterprise risk. The Head of Safety & Compliance is responsible for continuous safety performance improvement through risk identification, mitigation, and process excellence. With a small team reporting to you, you will play a critical role in maintaining our operations' safety and compliance and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Support and promote consistent and effective safety programs / practices in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements, updating and refining to reflect best practices in the industry and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review key performance indicators and metrics to monitor safety and compliance performance, regularly analyzing data and preparing reports on safety-related trends, issues, and areas of improvement.
- Coordinate with the senior leadership team, as well as operations and support teams, in crafting and executing short and long-term strategies that contribute to our culture of safety.
- Oversee and manage the accident reporting and investigation process, determining underlying causes, identifying trends, and developing strategies to prevent future occurrences. Ensure accurate records and documentation of all incidents through auditing and reviewing with the greater Safety and Compliance team.
- Design and implement policies, procedures, indicators, internal controls, monitoring, and reporting to improve overall work quality and effectiveness.
- Develop reporting and data analytics to include root cause analysis and creative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration, acting as a resource for them.
- Develop and manage FMCSA-compliant drug and alcohol policy and program, including but not limited to partnering with external vendors for fleet management, driver qualification file creation and management, background checks, drug and alcohol consortium testing, and FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse reporting and management. Audit third party leasing agency compliance with the same.
- Provide leadership in the implementation and integration of technology solutions for Fleet Safety Management.
- Support operations regarding their involvement in driver safety performance, prevention of injuries and accidents, and compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, and applicable federal and state training requirements and workplace regulations.
- Serve as corporate owner for the development and implementation of standard operations procedures (SOP’s) for all site specific and organization safety training and FMCSA compliance.
- Conduct, with the partnership of HR, workers’ compensation and liability carriers, and the local safety staff, the investigation of vehicle accidents, occupational injuries and make recommendations regarding cause, preventability, and retraining.
- Ensure and oversee that all new implementations have an all-encompassing safety training plan for all new employees that includes start up for leaders, internal staff, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct on-site safety training and safety audits.
- Oversee fleet & equipment strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Work experience, Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum 6+ years of progressive experience in transportation safety and compliance, preferably in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of applicable transportation regulations, including but not limited to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Proven track record of conducting safety audits, investigations, and managing compliance inspections.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions.
- Process oriented, with a proven ability to be a change agent across business functions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

**Experience Preferred**:
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
