Summary:
Essential Functions:- Assists the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor in the documentation and completion of manufacturers recall and warranty work related to university shuttle bus and vehicle fleet.- Maintains daily communications with the shuttle operations supervisors regarding the condition of shuttle buses, maintenance schedules, emergency repairs and other related operational issues to assure on-time shuttle schedules are met.- Creates, plans, assigns, and distributes preventive and corrective work orders utilizing the FM CMMS - AIM. Inputs maintenance data in order to document all corrective and preventive maintenance tasks. Queries the FM CMMS - AIM system to report on breakdowns, repairs, cost and other mechanical based analysis. Makes operational/productivity improvement recommendations to the VM Supervisor and Manager of Transportation Operations and Maintenance.- Provides leadership in support of weather-related emergency operations through serving as an essential employee and to ensure vehicles and equipment are in “ready condition”. Performs and instructs the technical and mechanical methods to install and adjust snowplows, salt spreaders, snow sweepers and other emergency equipment. Operates snowplow and other related equipment to ensure the university campus is safe and accessible during winter weather conditions.- Organizes in-house technical and hands-on training for Facilities Management (FM) staff, attends FM approved training sessions to keep up with safety and certification requirements. Keeps abreast of automotive technology and DOT safety compliance issues through review of on-line and hard copy publications.

Supervisory Responsibility:
4 FTE’s:
- Lead Mechanic (1).- Fleet Equipment Mechanic (2).- VM Assistant (1).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- 40 hours/week.- Non-exempt.- This position is designated as essential staff and is required to be available to work outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends and during university closures and designated weather emergencies.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.- 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Automotive certifications).- 4-6 years of relevant experience.- Course attendance specializing in AC/Transmission repairs.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Proven track record in the repair and maintenance of Cummins diesel engine and new diesel emission technology.- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively on team-based assignments in order to support a safe, functional, and efficient operation.- Master Technician level ASE- Valid License and ability to become a certified AU driver.- CDL or ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire date.- DC Class 7-B license.
