**PURPOSE** & SCOPE**: The Assistant Program Director (APD) of Family Support and Stabilization (FSS) is a member of the Bridges Homeward's Family Support and Stabilization team. The APD assists in managing the Family Support and Stabilization programs serving families, children and youth referred by the Department of Children and Families, or self-referrals from the community. The Family Support and Stabilization Program's goals are to:
The Assistant Program Director reports to the FSS Program Director, and ensures that the programs within Family Support and Stabilization are organized and operate effectively to achieve Program Goals. The Assistant Program Director provides direct supervision to FSS case managers in addition to supporting the FSS Program Manager, Young Adult Support Program Manager and Healthy Families Massachusetts Program Manager.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: The FSS Assistant Program Director:

- Assists Program Director in recruitment, hiring and training of new case managers;
- Evaluates case management staff, provides weekly supervision, and makes recommendations regarding continued employment;
- Processes and manages referrals and intakes received from DCF offices and other referral sources;
- Provides oversight along with Program Director in ensuring that all contract requirements are being followed;
- Provides backup coverage to supervised visits 1 evening a week;
- Participates in DCF Regional Provider meetings, Supervised Visitation Network and other collateral meetings as needed;
- Assists Program Director in further growth of services offered, including Parenting Journey, Family Stabilization and Supervised Visitation by providing outreach, as well as forming & maintaining productive relationships with DCF, Family Networks and other community providers;
- Reviews supervised visitation reports weekly;
- Ensures that that weekly data entry and documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner;
- Provides support to case management staff for emergencies;
- Provides vacation and back up on-call coverage for Program Director or staff are out;
- Along with Program Director, provides training and resources to staff during weekly team meeting;
- Manages assignment of new families to ensure that staff have full caseloads;
- Participates in weekly case reviews with Program Director;
- Organizes and reports weekly census numbers weekly to Deputy Director and Program Director;
- Provide direct service to small caseload of families including:

- Organizes and manages a caseload of families and children referred by Department of Children and Families, including completing clinical assessments of families and children;
- Collaborates with parents, children, DCF staff and CFCS staff in developing service plans, including:

- Referrals for services such as substance abuse treatment, domestic violence resources or mental health services;
- Developing safety plans to reduce risk to children;
- Providing crisis intervention as needed.

**REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field;
- Professional licensure where applicable;
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in child welfare services; Master's degree may be substituted for two years' experience;
- Bilingual and experience serving families of color preferred.
