Laboratory Technician

Polymer Chemistry Innovations Chocolate Bayou (PCC) is a small specialty chemicals manufacturer looking for a Laboratory Technician to add to their team in Alvin, TX. A person in this role will be responsible for completing analytical characterization of incoming, in-process, and outgoing materials, along with maintenance of the laboratory and its equipment.

**Essential Job Functions**
- Characterize product for Certificate of Analysis. This may include but is not limited to: GC, IR, viscosity, visual inspection. Must document and maintain the records for each analysis.
- Sample and analyze incoming materials, in process manufacturing, and outbound products; organize retains.
- Assist with waste management (maintain laboratory wastes, analyze outgoing waste as needed)
- Provide production analytical support and assure timely technical support to production and QC.
- Ensure work is performed according to specific methods in a timely manner with complete formal data record keeping.
- Communicate with multiple departments and outside personnel.
- Maintain the laboratory in a clean, working order. Complete routine and preventative maintenance as well as troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
- Follow all QMS and EHS procedures and guidelines, including the use of appropriate PPE.

**Essential Job Requirements**
- 2 years minimum relevant experience (preferably in an industrial setting)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain organized documentation.
- Self-manager with the ability to complete projects and report information in a timely manner
- Awareness of working safely around chemicals and reactions.
- Strong skills in common software packages, MS Word, MS Excel as a minimum as well as aptitude and ability to quickly master proprietary software.
- Mastery of standard laboratory reagent preparation and calibration techniques.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
- Flexibility in scheduling

**Physical Requirements**
- Indoor lab and warehouse work environment that can include broad temperature range in the warehouse.
- Light to moderate lifting
- Exposure to chemicals
- Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time
- Repetitive use of hands
- Acute hearing and listening

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

- 10 hour shift
