**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A valid Arizona Department of Education issued Teaching Certificate (Athletic Coaching 7-12) **OR** National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Level 1 Certificate is preferred but not required.

- Must possess the following NFHS approved Certificates:
***
- Fundamentals of Coaching

***
- Concussion in Sports

***
- First Aid, Health & Safety

***
- Familiar with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) organization and its bylaws and requirements.

***
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.

***

**JOB GOALS**:
***

The Middle School Head Coach will be responsible for the planning, organization, and successful implementation of a comprehensive interscholastic athletic program, and to carry out the objectives of the District’s Middle School athletic program.

***

**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
***

- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.

***
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public, including members of the media, boosters, officials, players, other coaches, school administration, and fans.

***
- Serves as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the community.

***
- Demonstrates knowledge of proven coaching theories, strategies, and techniques and works with student athletes of varying abilities, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds to effectively implement these attributes.

***
- Instills commitment, discipline, sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork to all athletes and coaching staff.

***
- Assumes responsibility for inventory, selection and care of sports equipment and District facilities.

***
- Assumes responsibility for the supervision of all student athletes and other students under their care.

***
- Reports sports related injuries to District administration in a timely manner.

***
- Builds and sustains a successful athletic program that is widely supported and respected by the District and community.

***
- Responsible for implementation and oversight of fund raising activities to provide support for athletic programs.

***
- Available for coaching duties during summers and vacation periods.

***
- Assists the Athletic Coordinator in developing game schedules, scheduling practices, facilities use, transportation needs, and program budgets.

***
- Procures supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, according to District policies and procedures.

***
- Provides game results to the media; maintains sports season and game-by-game statistics and records; provides statistical reports to the Athletic Coordinator as requested.

***
- Stays abreast of students' academic performance and works with teachers and District administration to ensure continued student (sports program) eligibility.

***
- Adheres to District ethical guidelines and applicable Codes of Conduct.

***
- Adheres to requirements within the District Coaching Handbook.

***
- Assists the Athletic Coordinator in the interview and selection process of other District coaches as requested.

***
- Applies discipline in a positive, firm and consistent manner according to District, School, and Athletic Department policy.

***
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Coordinator.

- Athletic department rules, policies, and associated department handbook.

- Effective coaching theories, strategies, and techniques appropriate for middle school athletes.

- Federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing education and sports program implementation.

- Budget preparation and management.

- District’s constituents (i.e., boosters, etc.)

- Supervision and evaluation of coaching staff.

- Developing and evaluating extra-curricular programs.
