**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Upper School Librarian is an individual who supports faculty and student use of technology and digital resources to foster critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and inquiry. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the Upper School library, with a focus on resource management and support for Upper School students. The position will also focus on three main areas: Upper School library services, Middle and Upper School digital (information, media, AI) literacy integration, and educational technology support through the library program. Educational technology and library services are integrated at St. Margaret?s and this position reports to the Director of Educational Technology and Library.
**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Library Services
? Oversee the Upper School library space, including supervising and supporting students as they utilize library resources and study rooms.
? Collaborate with the Ed Tech Library team, professional community, and outside vendors to select, assess, and manage academic databases used to support teaching and research needs on campus.
Digital Literacy and Instruction
? Partner with faculty to develop new approaches, services, systems, and strategies for digital literacy integration in the curriculum.
? Identify areas of the Middle and Upper School curriculum where digital literacy can be incorporated.
? Teach the 6th grade digital literacy course and potentially teaching future Upper School classes.
Professional and Student Community Support
? Collaborate with the Director of Ed Tech and Library to reimagine and redesign the library space to better meet the evolving needs of the student body and faculty.
? Plan and deliver professional development opportunities and tutorials for the professional and student communities, with the support of the Director of Educational Technology and Library.
? Potential to be an Upper School student advisor.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Educational Background
? Bachelor's required. Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master?s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) OR Advanced degree in education technology, digital literacy, or a related field is highly desirable.
? Teaching credential preferred, but not required.
Professional Experience
? A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a library setting, preferably in an educational environment.
? Experience in managing a library, including database management and space utilization.
? Proven track record of integrating technology and digital resources into a curriculum or library services.
? Experience in teaching or delivering instructional sessions, particularly in the areas of digital literacy and information literacy.
**COMPENSATION**: $70,000 - $90,000
