**About the Department**:
Information Technology Services is Mason’s central IT organization. We provide IT resources, systems, services, and tools to the University community.

Learning Space Design’s mission is to serve as a resource for teaching faculty and academic units seeking to enhance teaching and learning by:

- Managing multiple large-scale technology refresh projects for formal and informal learning spaces, specialized labs, and various meeting rooms;
- Designing instructional technology classroom systems;
- Proposing new technologies to further enhance the University mission; and
- Developing university-wide AV standards.

**About the Position**:
The AV Project Manager works on design projects to support teaching and learning in the areas of new construction, renovations, and technology refreshes. The AV Project Manager is a responsible contributor to the development of departmental standards supported with reliable, cost effective, realistic, and commercially available industry hardware, software, and systems support.

**Responsibilities**:

- Project Management:

- Collaborates with team members with other units within ITS and across the university on classroom and lab projects, non-traditional spaces, conference rooms, as well as other projects as assigned;
- Manages all aspects of learning space projects from initial design following University standards, through planning, engineering, equipment acquisition, implementation, vendor/contractor relations, testing, to commissioning to classroom support;
- Oversees the project planning, schedule, training, budget, and coordination of the project team;
- Constructs and adheres to project budgeting process and completion;
- Manages and/or acts as a team member for learning space projects as assigned; and
- Successful delivery of all required project deliverables on time and within budget.
- Learning Environments & Instructional Technology Design:

- Provides learning spaces and meeting room consultation services to university units as assigned;
- Coordinates and consults on new technology installations from upgrades to existing classrooms, meeting rooms, and labs;
- Works with AV Engineers to develop AutoCAD drawings, such as floor plans, and reflective ceiling plans and elevations for CaLT AV installation projects;
- Meets with faculty, staff, or other interested parties to obtain requirements, and develop technology solutions;
- Provides input in the maintenance of university classroom technology standards, reviewing and publishing annually; and
- Works with LSD Manager to develop overall architecture for AV system and AV systems programming.
- Soft Projects:

- Soft projects are defined as those in which the final result is not in itself a tangible asset. The Project Manager - Learning Space Design is responsible for various soft projects that are performed in support of CaLT and the goals of the University. Soft projects include things such as ticketing systems, enterprise level support systems, ramping up projects, etc. These duties are assigned to the Project Manager as needed by the Learning Space Design Manager; and
- Ensures that all soft projects are appropriately documented and closed upon completion.
- Strategic Planning:

- Works with LSD Manager to develop long-range technology, and budgetary plans related to technology design;
- Supports requests from LSD Manager for data and projections to support initiatives, projects, and planning;
- Conducts research when directed on user requirements for new/refresh installations; and
- Collaborates effectively with LSD Manager in analyzing data to support future roadmap development.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- PMI, PMP, CAPM or ability to obtain CAPM certification, at a minimum, within first year of employment preferred;
- Experience generating AutoCAD drawings supporting AV upgrades in existing and renovated spaces;
- Experience working in a project team environment to complete AV installation projects, with tight deadlines;
- Demonstrated organizational and management skills;
- Demonstrated experience with AV/technology projects on a large scale;
- Collaborative working style is critical to successful project completion;
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities;
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD drawings for installation projects; and
- Commitment to customer service in a technical environment.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in related field;
- Experience managing AV installation projects
