Cad Technician

Dominion Steel is in need of CAD Technician to grow our Engineering and Detailing department. This position will be responsible for completing accurate 2D/3D designs, detailed drawings, and bills of materials on a wide range of structural and decorative steel projects. This position will report directly to the VP of Engineering and Detailing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with estimating team to develop material takeoffs for bid requests
- Create accurate 2D/3D models of structural steel assemblies using Autodesk AutoCAD and Advance Steel software
- Generate layout, assembly, and part drawings for fabrication
- Export and nest DXF files for any parts needed to be cut on the CNC plasma table
- Troubleshoot any design or fabrication issues with the shop and field teams as needed
- Communicate with General Contractors and customers on Requests for Information (RFI’s) and Change Orders
- Communicate with outsource design companies on larger, more complex projects; review drawings for accuracy and errors
- Help develop and maintain CAD standards for in-house and outsourced design work

Qualifications:

- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD
- CAD Certificate or A.S. in Engineering Technology is preferred but not required; experienced Detailers without formal education are encouraged to apply

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
