Retention Specialist opening at our Grafton Community multifamily property in Yorktown, Virginia.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Has primary responsibility for the property’s resident renewal program; provides administrative support to other members of the office staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Abides by Fair Housing Laws; maintains an on-going resident visitation program, and assists with the resolution of problems; encourages residents to renew their leases; prepares the necessary paperwork for renewals; completes VHDA reports, re-certifications and transmissions, renews leases.
OCCASIONAL FUNCTIONS: Responds to telephone inquiries; assists with leasing units to new residents, tracking traffic, maintenance work orders; may type reports, purchase orders, and 5-Day Notices; may handle bank deposits and the bookkeeping functions on an as needed basis.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Required: High school graduation and proficiency in the use of office equipment Preferred: Advanced courses in the areas of Public Relations, Sales, or Real Estate; coupled with prior experience in a multi-unit rental complex, and general knowledge of Fair Housing and Landlord-Resident Laws
EQUIPMENT USED: Typewriter, calculator, telephone, facsimile machine, computer, and copy machine
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, and may occasionally lift objects up to 25-50 lbs.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Driver’s License if operating a vehicle.
GENERAL: May be required to work on weekends as necessary.
