Position**:Crisis Counselor**

Line of Hope Crisis provides crisis prevention, emergency response intervention, behavioral support, training, and critical situation support in-person or over the phone 24 hours/7 days a week, 365 days a year. Counselors are equipped to respond to critical situations and provide on-going support utilizing evidence-based practices over the duration of the crisis to stabilize the individual in the immediate and long-term placement. Counselors are trained to help assess and assist during situations when police or hospitalization involvement is deemed necessary. Counselors work together with the regional center to support individuals by assisting in achieving long-term stability, supportive placement, behavioral transitional planning, and connection to community resources intended to maximize their opportunities.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Crisis counselors are responsible to conduct and complete assessments.
- Exceptional organizational, documentation and data tracking skills
- Implement treatment plans, trainings, and other meetings as required
- Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with federal guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.
- Gather information for client assessments, progress notes, and crisis notes.
- Able to travel within the County of Riverside in response to crisis calls
- Must possess a valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance and clean driving record
- Maintain appropriate and professional relationships with peers, consultants, individuals, and the community
- Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem solving is a must
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality and appropriate content
- Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or before the first day of fieldwork and maintain current certification throughout employment
- Staff who are offered employment with Line of Hope must be able and willing to carry out the functions as listed in Title 17 Section 56727
- Must be able to pass background test and have a clean driving record and auto insurance

**Duties**:

- Conduct and complete assessments in order to develop comprehensive crisis service for consumers.
- Respond to crisis calls and face to face crises.
- Send out notes to service coordinator
- Coordinate consumer care
- Conduct crisis intervention calls and visits, as well as follow-up calls & visits
- Take data on client behaviors
- Counsel and stabilize consumers and caregivers in crisis situations.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Program Director pre and post crisis
- Complete training in crisis intervention strategies and behavioral techniques aimed at preventing or stabilizing
- Employ and teach positive behavioral strategies and model proper implementation of these behavioral strategies.
- Assist in developing semi-annual assessments, discharge plans and continuum of care.
- Collect data during the assessment to facilitate future crises and create plans.
- Document all interactions made with consumers in monthly reports that will be sent to WRC
- Maintain consistent communication with caregivers and the Regional Center.
- Attend weekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Attend monthly in-service

**Education**:
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university

**Language**:
Bilingual Spanish is preferred, but not required.
