Land Development Services (LDS) is the steward of the county's land development and building construction codes and regulations, and its staff members embrace their essential role as "first preventers." Our department also serves as the gateway to much of the county's economic development, reviewing over 30,000 building and site plan submissions, issuing nearly 70,000 building permits, and conducting over 220,000 building and site inspections each year. Under the general supervision of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Coordinator in the Department of Land Development Services (LDS), serves as research and records assistant. Researches and obtains site, building, and related records through use of stored files, online databases, and record management systems, and assists customers with the information therein. Composes routine documents, correspondence, and reports. Coordinates with staff internal and external to agency to respond to FOIA requests. Tracks and maintains FOIA records in accordance with established state and agency policies and procedures. Complies with LDS’s safety programs and guidelines. Complies with county, agency, and job specific training requirements, including emergency management and safety-related courses.

**Note**: The assigned functional areas for this position include general administrative assistance, customer service, research/project coordination, and/or FOIA coordination.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

**NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- At least one year of experience with performing data entry, using a research database, working independently on a research project to successfully meet deadlines, project coordination involving multiple parties, collaborating and researching with colleagues in a team environment, and organizing and effectively handling multiple assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Two years' experience with customer service, including assisting customers with questions.
- Two years' experience conducting research and preparing documents.
- Two years' experience working in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive and effective staff relationships.
- Intermediate proficiency with written communications, drafting, and editing correspondence.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to research and analyze data.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple assignments and adapt to change.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:
Job is generally sedentary in nature. However, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Must be able to communicate with others. Must have an ability to stand, stoop and bend for up to an hour and to lift moderately heavy objects such as boxes of files or large construction plan sets up to 25 pounds without assistance. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
