**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Assistant Director of the City on a Hill Café partners with the Café Director to manage the daily business activities of the non-profit café including service to café guests, COAH ministry partners, and catered events. As leadership support to the Café Director, the Assistant Director will collaborate with café paid staff and volunteers to provide quality food, beverages, and hospitality for our unique food service business model.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:

- Facilitate daily Café operations including food preparation and food & beverage service, opening and closing, and daily cash/sales reporting.
- Assist the Café Director with budget forecasting and management, including operating within revenue and expense projections.
- Recruit, train, empower, and communicate to Café staff and volunteers.
- Manage inventory for daily operations while controlling food and production costs.
- Primary lead for preparation for daily operations, food prep, cafe service, cleaning & stocking.
- Partner with the Cafe staff and volunteers to ensure daily tasks are performed.
- Assist in the creation of new menu items as needed.
- Contribute positively to team culture including collaboration with Café Director as a unified team.
- Assist Café Director with ongoing evaluation of food service operations to identify future ministry opportunities.
- Initiate proactive leadership in Café operations as part of COAHM’s value of building community in a comfortable & hospitable environment.
- In coordination with the Café Director, ensure food safety and cleanliness is held to the highest standards.

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:

- A High School diploma or GED is required. Associates Degree in related field or trade school is preferred.
- Previous experience in food service operations and customer service.
- Proven 2 years of manager or supervisor experience.
