**Responsibilities**:
1. Facility Maintenance:

- Conduct routine inspections of the premises to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential repairs.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC units, and other building systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of doors, windows, and gates to maintain security and safety.
- Monitor and address any issues related to lighting, fixtures, and equipment.

3. Repairs and Upkeep:

- Perform minor repairs on furniture, equipment, and fixtures as needed.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of animal housing units, including bedding, feeding stations, and water supply systems.
- Repair and maintain animal containment structures and outdoor enclosures.

4. Grounds keeping:

- Maintain outdoor areas, ensuring that walkways, parking lots, and outdoor play areas are clean and safe.
- Perform landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, and weeding to keep the premises aesthetically pleasing.

5. Inventory Management:

- Assist in maintaining an inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies, notifying the Assistant Executive Director or Executive Director when restocking is needed.
- Keep track of tools and equipment, ensuring they are properly stored and maintained.

6. Health and Safety:

- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
- Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns to the Assistant Executive Director or Executive Director.

7. Collaboration:

- Work closely with other staff members to coordinate maintenance activities around animal care routines and clinic schedules.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to support their operational needs related to facilities and equipment.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair work.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassion for animals and an understanding of animal shelter and veterinary clinic operations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments and various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work on weekends and occasional evenings as needed.
