**Janitor**

**1st shift**:10 AM - 6:30 PM

Pay rate: $16/hr

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors. May be required to operate a power scrubber to clean
floors. Vacuums carpets in common areas and offices.
- Removes and disposes trash from all areas. Breaks down and bundles carton boxes for
recycling; places boxes in bailer machine for consolidation.
- Cleans common areas, including tables, chairs, countertops, drinking fountains, doors,
windows (inside and outside), refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, and eye wash stations. Uses
cleansers and machinery in a safe manner according to manufacturers’ specifications.
- Cleans and provides supplies for restrooms.
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, entrance areas, and dock doors as
needed. Spreads de-icing salt as appropriate; maintains log.
- Understands and demonstrates United Stationers' Core Values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Skills/Knowledge Required**:

- Ability to perform all required tasks in the function according to established safety rules
and guidelines.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
- Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner, following all safety rules and guidelines.
- Ability to understand simple directions (verbal and written) in English.

**Education and Experience**:

- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Janitorial/custodial experience preferred
