**EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN / 40 HOURS / DAYS - BWH LABOR AND DELIVERY**

**GENERAL OVERVIEW**
The Equipment Technician is responsible for the preparation of special L&D Triage, OR equipment. Sorts, inspects and assembles equipment according to schedules. Inspects all equpment and tests for damages and does minor repairs. Terminally sterilizes all equipment after each use. Responsible for ordering equipment and supplies, Maintenance work orders.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Sorts and inspects all Equipment and tests for damage before assembling into designated areas.
- Place equipment in appropriate racks for easy identification and use by staff.
- Performs minor repairs on equipments and tests minimizing down time.
- Maintains proper par levels of equipment so as not to delay procedure.
- Maintains updated inventory lists of all special equipment.
- Orders all supplies.- Assists in pod with patient care assistant duties as required.-
- Covers Unit Coordinator breaks as needed**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Must have a sound understanding of the English language and the ability to do simple math.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Nine months to 1-year Equipment training preferred.
- Familiarity with OBGYN Equipment
**SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**
- The Equipment Technician must possess good eye-to-hand coordination.
- Must also be able to identify all Equipment.
- Must be able to work quickly and under stress.
- The technician must be able to establish priorities and perform responsibilities accordingly.
- Must have a thorough understanding of equipment care and preparation.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
Busy area with high stress atmosphere.
