**Job Summary**:
The primary role of the Medical Assistant is to provide compassionate patient centered quality care to patients and family members. The Medical assistant will provide direct care in a medical office setting under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the practice.

**Job Duties**:

- Rooms patient and verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Completes all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record in accordance with practice’s charting policy.
- Collects and processes laboratory specimen for laboratory testing in compliance with CLIA standards.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, or providers’ instructions to patients.
- Clean and sterilize medical instruments.
- Documents patient visit and records patient/lab charges for billing department.
- Contacts patients with lab and path results.
- Prescription refills.
- Assists providers as they examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections, changing catheters, etc.
- Cleans examination rooms and other work areas
- Stocks rooms in preparation for the daily work schedule. Takes inventory of medical and exam room supplies.
- Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
- Answer telephones in a timely manner and handle all calls with efficiency and thoroughness
- Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies; addresses others professionally and respectfully always
- Utilize personal effectiveness and effective listening to quickly assess patient’s needs and use critical thinking skills to determine best resolution.
- Perform special projects or other related work as required or requested
- Provide customer service and attention to detail
- Maintain effective communication with management, co-workers, and physicians
- Is able to achieve and maintain all applicable departmental production standards and goals.
- Maintain professional attitude.

**Qualifications**:

- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of sterile techniques
- Knowledge of lab functions including injections and urinalysis
- Ability to find solutions when barriers are identified
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to handle and maintain extreme confidentially with patient records
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Ability to be organized, self-disciplined, and a quick learner.
- Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner in compliance with company safety policies and according to applicable regulations, which includes maintaining a neat workstation and environment.
- Computer and typing skills.
- Excellent telephone and customer service etiquette.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- A highly professional approach and appearance.
- Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to manage tasks and time effectively without compromising the quality of the work
- Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- MUST speak clearly and have a pleasant phone manner.
- **Bilingual is a plus but not required**

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
