**THE POSITION**:
Are you a religious leader who would like to use your words to guide inmates to a better path? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township is seeking a highly motivated Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy Department. This position provides spiritual and religious guidance to inmates within the institution through prayer, comfort, and encouragement in times of grief and crisis. This includes individuals of all faiths or no faith. **DESCRIPTION OF WORK**:
As a Chaplain for the Department of Corrections, you are responsible for providing religious services to inmates of all faiths. You administer faith-appropriate sacraments, rites, and ceremonies for inmates who identify with your faith tradition. You also conduct faith-specific primary religious gatherings for inmates who share your broad faith tradition and supervise similar accommodations for inmates of other faiths. In addition, you conduct rounds to inmates in all areas of the facility and conduct spiritual and grief counseling for any interested inmate regardless of the inmate’s spiritual or religious beliefs.

**Work Schedule and Additional Information**:
- Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Minimum Experience and Training Requirements**:
- Two years of professional pastoral experience and a bachelor’s degree; **or**:
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional pastoral experience.
**Special Requirements**:
- All employees in the Department of Corrections must complete the Correctional Chaplains Training Course within six months of hire.
- All employees in the Department of Corrections must maintain their credentials with an officially sanctioned faith group on an annual basis for the duration of employment.
- This position requires one unit of clinical pastoral education or an equivalent specialized training.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
