**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
Responsible for working with the Credit Officer(s) to minimize credit losses and maximize credit recoveries through reasonable and prudent efforts while complying with the appropriate laws/regulations, and departmental operating policies and procedures. Administers all legal enforcement of commercial loans, including closed and open-ended (regardless of lien position), acquisition approval and bidding and maintenance, and sale of repossessed/foreclosed assets. Manages the Bank's legal, financial, and reputation risk associated with collection of the commercial portfolio. Attend and participate in training programs as necessary; providing periodic reports; coordinating work with others within the bank; and demonstrating a commitment to community involvement.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
1. Minimizes credit loss and maximizes credit recovery through:

- Formulating, recommending, and implementing commercial loan (watch list) workout/liquidation strategies.
- Effectively estimating the liquidation value of real and personal property collateral thereby minimizing the risks of overstating interest income and unallocated losses.
- Obtaining appropriate approvals for and ensuring documentation of departmental actions thereby mitigating legal and reputation risk.

3. Complies with established operating policies and procedures to maintain adequate controls and to support the bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.

4. Communicates with Credit Officer(s) and interfaces with other department managers and appropriate staff personnel to integrate goals and activities.

5. Reviews and ensures delinquencies are kept to a minimum through effective negotiating and follow-up skills to help mitigate risk to the Bank. Ensures assets are protected with a high level of integrity. Assists in bringing past due accounts to current status to prevent receivable aging and loss potential.

6. Monitors bankrupt loans and coordinates preparation of court documents with outside counsel as applicable.

7. Orders and understands lien searches to determine the banks lien position and potential risks involved on real estate secured loans.

8. Orders Real Estate valuations according to the bank's credit policy to determine up to date loan to values.

9. Performs skip tracing techniques, while remaining within collection and privacy regulations, to locate borrowers who have relocated.

10. Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of applicable collection laws and guidelines.

11. Provides periodic reports to the Chief Credit Officer, various committees and other groups as required throughout the bank.

12. Attends Officer's Loan Committee.

13. Attends and participates in Loan Management Committee.

14. Communicates with external loan review team, auditors, and examiners for purposes of loan status updates as needed.

15. Participates in various community events to increase the bank's visibility and strengthen relationships with the communities we serve.

**OTHER ASPECTS OF THE POSITION**:
16. Keeps up-to-date with bank communication regarding policy changes, new products and initiatives, personnel changes, etc.

17. Attends and successfully completes all internal and external training programs per annual Training Schedule and/or personal development plan.

18. Identifies own strengths and developmental areas and sets goals as aligned with supervisor's expectations. Initiates coaching sessions with supervisor to share progress and receive feedback towards goals.

19. Communicates expectations and identifies key gaps in the behavior of direct reports. Develops plans to address performance gaps through the use of effective formal and informal coaching as outlined by F&M Trust's coaching certification principles.

20. Follows corporate policy and upholds bank standards in accordance with the bank's Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.

21. Performs duties in a manner that ensures bank compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.

22. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

**REQUIRED EDUCATION**:
An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and commercial lending and/or commercial workout/liquidation. Continued education in position specific training is required. High school diploma, or equivalent, required.

**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in commercial lending to include commercial and industrial, land development, construction, hotel, and agriculture. Previous experience in bankruptcy, foreclosure, other assets management and liquidation is required. Previous experience with personal computers, office equipment, and Microsoft Word and Excel is also required.
