Overview:
The Vein Healthcare Center (VHC) in South Portland, Maine seeks a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC).

At VHC, we always put our patients and their comfort and care first. Our team is a dedicated group of people who focus on the treatment of varicose veins and vein-related diseases. Because the first point of contact for our patients is often on the phone or at the reception desk, the Patient Care Coordinator must share our patient-first attitude.

Duties include:

- Welcoming patients who walks through the door or calls the practice with professionalism and empathy.
- Assisting patients during the intake process of filling out forms and collecting insurance
- Scheduling patients and organizing and updating providers’ daily schedules
- Collecting and recording of patient payments
- Answering a multi-line phone, routing calls appropriately, retrieving phone messages and prioritizing return calls
- Assisting providers with patient flow and any other assistance they may need
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and other healthcare facilities as needed.
- Assist in managing medical office inventory and supplies.
- Provide administrative support to medical staff as required.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to understand and work with a complex scheduling system. Individuals who love puzzles have thrived in this position. Crosswords, word problems, Rubik's cube, and other brain teasers.

- Ability to put patients’ needs first at all times
- Ability to multi-task and organize in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- Strong comfort with office technology
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite
- Customer service experience
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Two+ years experience working in a fast-paced medical office with multiple providers that provide different services. Be comfortable learning a new EMR as well as new medical terms. Have above average skills for office technology including Excel, Word, network devices such as printers, and be a wiz at internet research.
- Two+ years experience as a project or operations coordinator in a fast moving environment and a proven track record of multi-tasking details while problem solving every step of the way. Have above average skills for office technology including Excel, Word, network devices such as printers, and be a wiz at internet research.
- Two+ years experience as an executive level personal assistant responsible for multiple schedules, an infinite list of details, and the success of the individual being supported. Have above average skills for office technology including Excel, Word, network devices such as printers, and be a wiz at internet research.
- Two+ years in an unrelated field that has required many of the same skills we seek. An individual with this background would need to interview well and demonstrate their enthusiasm and interest in learning new skills and should include a cover letter.
