Welcome to LIFE Wellness and Counseling Services We are an outpatient mental health clinic that provides mental health services in Wisconsin. We believe in lifting individuals forward everyday by building lasting relationships in the community and empowering individuals through collaboration to impact the lives of our clients positively.

LIFE Wellness and Counseling Services is hiring for independent skills workers to join our rapidly growing team. The person must be organized, enthusiastic, detailed oriented, and a self-starter who can provide supports to the community in various of ways such as by phone, video, and in-person.

Here is a little more about the role.

An Individual skill development worker helps to develop and enhance a person’s ability to advocate for their needs, communicate better with others, problem solving, decision-making, managing emotions, resolving conflict, developing natural support systems, and addressing any other social needs you may have.

Another focus of this service category is to work on developing skills that will improve their ability to take care of themselves and others. This can include learning strategies to help them improve their personal cares (hygiene, laundry etc,), taking care of the home, managing finances, riding the bus and/or accessing other forms of transportation, shopping, parenting, employment and education related skill development.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Implement service plan goals as discussed by team and the consumer
- Timely collaboration with referral and ancillary community agencies
- Provide skill building to patients and families with a combination of mental illness, substance abuse, or chronic diseases in a home, community, and school setting
- Educate patients, their support systems and staff on prevention and skills development
- Maintain documentation/records that accurately reflect the services provided and the patient’s growth towards treatment goals
- Perform other duties as assigned

**DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Understanding of mental health/illness
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing work schedule
- Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with consumers, staff and community partners
- Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and maintain organizational skills
- Possess creativity in identifying problems and creating solutions
- Knowledge and compliance of all applicable guidelines, policies, procedures and laws
- Ability to handle confrontational situations in a professional and productive manner

**EDUCATION, TRAINING AND OTHER**:

- Current driver’s license and access to your own vehicle
- This position is highly independent, but has the resources you need to succeed and grown in your behavioral health career such as training, in-services, and consultation.
- This position is currently part-time with the potential to be full-time based on completion of probation period and demand.
- Appointments are scheduled between the consumer and contractor.
- Unpaid training for startup of services
- Must have own equipment to complete documentation
- Pay based on experience starting at $15/hr and up
- Required Credentials and Documentation
- High School Diploma, Bachelor, or Master
- Transcripts
- At-least two years’ experience working with population
- Independent Contractor role no benefits

**Job Type**: Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 30 per week

Schedule:

- Choose your own hours
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Caregiving: 1 year (required)

License/Certification:

- Driver's License (required)
- CPR Certification (preferred)
